Transglobal Express (EVRI) are one of the largest UK freight forwarders delivering to over 220 countries providing air, sea freight and international courier services throughout the globe. They provide a variety of parcel delivery services utilising a highly organised network of global carriers including DHL, UPS ant TNT.
As part of their Heathrow expansion, Evri’s looked to implement a new conveyor system to process high volumes of mixed air freight. The company already put into effect a system for large bulk palletised items, but needed secondary X-Ray conveyor system to scan a wide range of mixed large and small packages to be distributed further distributed through their network.
The initial company set up utilised a vehicle unloading conveyor to empty articulated trailers of loose freight. Although the vehicle conveyor provided a quick and effective solution to quickly process trailers, it left them with high volumes of now palletised freight, which needed to be double handled and re-processed. The reprocessing and double handling of freight had to be overcome by increasing staff levels and shift patterns to stay on target.
By discussing the system requirements with the client, KBR were able to provide a new layout, so products would only be packed once they had been fully processed. From trailer to pallet, completed and ready for further delivery.
The system comprised of an initial KCB 138 central belt conveyor to continue from the existing boom conveyor. Once packages were now in the correct area of the factory, we would feed packages onto a 24v zero pressure conveyor system.

The in-feed of the ZPL conveyor incorporated a high-speed switch sorter to divert parcels between two x-ray machines. Once parcels had been cleared by X-Ray they would continue on to a large indexing carousel for final sorting.
We utilised our KCPR conveyor modular platform to create the conveyors merge, curves, straights and sortation conveyor. All cables, control modules and sensors were neatly contained utilising the conveyors inbuild side facia to give a clean and aesthetic final appearance.
